CHRISTOFFEL SYMBOLS, METRIC TENSOR

        It has already been mentioned in the previous chapter that in Vn partial derivatives of a tensor does not  , in general, 
Produce a tensor.  But with the introduction of the fundamental metric in Vn the opportunity of introducing a new type of differentiation has been opened up so that this type of differentiation when applied to a tensor it produces again a tensor. 
         In fact such a new operation of differentiation may be introduce with the help of two functions formed in teams of the partial derivatives of the components of the fundamental tensor.  These are the Christoffel Symbols of the first and second kinds defined respectively
